Abstract

|
The author reviewed the considerable factors of using psychotropic agents (antipsychotics, antidepressants, antianxiety and hypnotics, mood stabilizers, and other psychotropics) in psychiatric patients with physical disease, especially weight gain and obesity, diabetes, and epilepsy. Because of the increasing risk of obesity, diabetes, and seizure related to decrease of seizure threshold by psychotropics, psychiatrists have to use psychotropics more carefully. It will be more helpful to treat psychiatric patients with physical disease.
